These classes are about the experience of making, not the outcome. Your kids will explore colour mixing, mark making, and printmaking in a relaxed, playful environment. There may not be a finished piece to take home - and that's entirely the point.

Winter Watercolour Retreat

Becs from Ventana will guide you through a watercolour morning- loose, approachable, and genuinely fun. Giant Crepe Wallflower Workshops

You'll leave with a flower twice the size of your head and a skill you didn't know you had.

In this hands-on 2.5-hour workshop you'll make a voluminous, oversized crepe paper flower from scratch. A sculptural statement piece that's equal parts art and joy. I’ll guide you through every step: choosing your colour palette, cutting and curling each petal by hand, shaping and assembling your flower, and finishing it ready to hang on your wall the moment you get home.

No experience needed. Just show up ready to make something beautiful.

All materials, 180g Italian crepe paper, tools, templates, everything you need.

Wine Bottle Painting

Spend a relaxed evening getting creative at Colombo Vineyard as you turn a beautiful wine bottle into a hand-painted keepsake.

Book a table with Colombo, order pizza and wine, and settle in for a cosy creative session while you dine. You’ll purchase your chosen takeaway bottle from the cellar door on arrival, then decorate it using vibrant acrylic paints with florals, patterns, or a style that’s uniquely yours. Perfect as home décor or a special gift.

You’ll receive a demo with simple techniques and inspiration. After that, paint at your own pace at your table while I circulate to offer help, tips, and encouragement whenever you’d like it. No experience needed.

I’ll be there painting alongside you from 2–4.30pm, and you can begin anytime during the session. Please allow at least one hour to paint, with the last start time at 3.30pm.

Giant Crepe Wallflower at Colombo

Create your own Giant Crepe Paper Wallflower in this hands-on evening workshop in the vines (but it’s winter, so we’ll be tucked away in the toasty, cosy Colombo winery cellar door).

Before the workshop you’ll choose your colour palette from eight beautiful bloom options, so everything is ready for you to dive straight into making on the night. I’ll guide you step by step as you cut, shape, curl and assemble your petals into a voluminous sculptural flower to take home. It’s slow, tactile and incredibly satisfying, and perfect for beginners.

This popular workshop and a true must-do creative experience while visiting Martinborough. As is enjoying Colombo’s delicious pizza and wine!! I recommend booking a table before the session to enjoy your pizza (crepé paper and cheesy fingers are not the best mix), and the Colombo team will be on hand to take wine orders throughout the workshop so you can sip as you create.

The Long Table Art Party

Create, connect, and slow down over an indulgent high tea at Nara Martinborough.

In this relaxed, social workshop, we’ll turn the table itself into a giant collaborative artwork. Paper will be rolled across the table and filled with vases of flowers casting beautiful shadows. You’ll trace, sketch, and move around the table, adding loose drawings, shapes, and marks inspired by what you see. Then we’ll layer in soft colour using pastels and watercolour, building a dreamy shared artwork together.

This is about connection, play, and letting go of perfection. You can move seats, add to each other’s sections, and enjoy the slow rhythm of creating side-by-side.

Your ticket includes a sweet and savoury high tea and a glass of bubbles on arrival, with the bar open if you’d like to order more drinks during the session.

Giant Knitting

Slow down, get cosy, and spend a few creative hours making something beautifully oversized.

In this relaxed, hands-on workshop you’ll learn how to use giant metre-long knitting needles — each one handcrafted by local woodturner Rex. Using soft New Zealand wool in your chosen colour, you’ll begin creating your own chunky knit blanket. No experience needed, just come ready to try something new.

We’ll pause for pastries, tea and coffee along the way, with plenty of time to chat, learn, and enjoy the rhythm of making.

You’ll head home with new skills, your blanket in progress (or completed!), and that deeply satisfying feeling of having made something with your hands.
