Join us for an inspiring 6 week journey into the captivating world of watercolour painting! Perfect for beginners, this course will guide you through the fundamental techniques and principles of watercolour art, empowering you to express your creativity with confidence. Each week, you'll delve deeper into the enchanting possibilities of watercolours, honing your skills and unleashing your artistic potential.
Each week we will have a focus, learn the new lesson and create an artwork using that focus.

Includes A3 Watercolour Pad and use of Ventana art materials during class.
$270 upfront or $33 weeklyWatercolour Kit $30
This is an optional add on, but is definitely recommended. You can take it home with you so can continue to paint at home, and bring it along each week.
Includes paint, brushes and palette.

Discover techniques for lifting or removing excess pigment from your paper to create highlights or correct mistakes.

Layering/ Glazing
Explore the layering process to build depth and complexity in your paintings.
Experiment with layering translucent washes to create new colours and textures. -
Wet-on-Dry
Learn to apply wet paint onto a dry paper surface, allowing for sharper details and controlled edges.

Avoiding Backruns
Learn strategies to prevent unwanted backruns or blooms, such as controlling water saturation and timing. Practice techniques for rescuing a painting if backruns occur.

Gradients
Master the skill of creating smooth transitions of colour from light to dark or vice versa.
Experiment with different brush techniques and paper angles to achieve seamless gradients. -
Varying Brush Pressure
Explore the impact of varying brush pressure on line thickness, pigment saturation, and texture.
Practice controlling brush pressure to create dynamic and expressive marks in your paintings. -
Mixing Colours on the Page
Experiment with mixing colours directly on the paper surface to create vibrant and nuanced hues.
Learn how to blend and manipulate colours seamlessly to achieve the desired effects in your artwork.
